Who Touches the Sacred and Inviolable Hermes?

What will happen when fashion collides capital? In Oct 24th, LVMH, the world’s largest extravagance brand group, declared that they bought 14.2% of the stock of Hermes and became the second largest shareholder of Hermes family.

This news is like a heavy bomb which shocks not only the ordinary people but also the Hermes family itself who was informed just one hour before the declaration. It is actually a happy beginning. From the perspective of business, the LVMH shareholder gives big confidence to the investors.

This issue ignites many questions from many fields. A professional analyst questioned under what conditions the group which Bernard Arnault leads lauches such a shocking campain. It is confused that the share of 14.2% soon adds to 17.1%.

What we can only make sure is that the small sized Hermes show its great resistance in economic crisis. Before that, whether Hermes or Chanel has no relations with the business mode of LVMH in many people’s eyes. The brand spirit is also very different.
